Protections, States, and Barriers

Having a resistance to a type of attack or effect is often common. The appropriate response to an attack or effect that one is resistant to is “Resist”. It should be said that creatures or objects can normally use their resistance as they choose. Resists are not a passive effect, meaning the user must actively use it. Some spells or effects might be foreign or unknown to some so one cannot resist them. Bottom-line: if you need to ask what the effect is (not “what was that?”) you cannot resist it.
